Dear Comenius friends,
This e-mail is from 5th class of Mirna Peč Primary School. We are 12 pupils from the Comenius project. We are 10 or 11 years old. In our school we do many different things. Our class likes those activities with sports, nature and animals.
We are also very tired of school subjects and all the tests. We can hardly wait for summer holidays. They start on 25th June and end in August 31st.
In last two months many interesting things happened at our school. In April we were in “Clean Slovenia in one day” action. We picked up trash along roads, rivers, woods and meadows. Our class cleaned the area around our school.
At the end of April we got a visit from a group of students and teachers of Slovenian Minority, who live in Italy. It was a very interesting day, because our guests showed us how they live and learn in Italy and we learned a lot from them.
This week we had the school project about the Ancient Rome. We studied about Romans roads, milestones, Roman army, school and their way of life. We also had a classical Latin lesson. We learned as Roman children and used similar school equipment. But it was not easy. We were unhappy about the writing, because we had to wipe off everything we wrote before if we wanted to write something else.
We like our school very much, because we are in the middle of nature. We have a beautiful view of nature. But we wish to get a new school building, because we don’t have enough space in this one.
We like our school food. In this school year we are having a hot meal for a breakfast three times a week. We like that very much. In our school every day we have a “healthy corner” where we get apples, tea, water, bread or dried fruit during school breaks.
Our school is an eco-school, which means that we take care of nature. How do you care for the nature? What activities do you do to keep your environment clean?
How many hours and how many days per week do you have school? We have school from Monday to Friday every week, 26 or 27 hours.
Greetings from Slovenia!
Tjasa, Petra, Aljaz, Urh, Sandra, Jera, Matej, Matjaz, Simon, Luka, Jan and our teachers Renata and Tatjana
