1. CLASSICAL MUSIC
Classical music came to Slovenia from various European countries. The Renaissance music came from Italy, for example.>
Jacobus Gallus was a Renaissance composer who lived in the 16th century. At that time he was one of the top composers in Europe. His most famous work is 'Opus Musicium'. In Slovenia we have named a lot of things in his honor: from musical awards to concert halls.

In Slovenia, young and old people listen to it. You can hear it on many public festivals, street fairs or weddings. Some radio stations play only this kind of music (Radio Sraka).
The most popular Slovene musician is Slavko Avsenik. He became famous with his song called ‘Na Golici’. This is the one most played instrumental songs ever.
